HOW DOES A COSMELAN TREATMENT WORK?
Cosmelan is a pigment treatment that consists of a mask (Cosmelan 1) in combination with products for home use. It is a cure to reduce pigment spots and to control their appearance.
Our skin therapist applies the Cosmelan mask in the clinic. You go home with the mask to let it soak in for 8 to 12 hours (depending on your skin type). After this time, you can remove the mask yourself at home. After this you will treat the skin at home with the Cosmelan 2 pigment cream and additional products that are provided.
The result is different per person, but your pigment spots will drastically reduce or even disappear. You will usually see this within 1 month after the treatment. It is ofcourse very important to use the home products in the months after the Cosmelan treatment for the desired result.
Advice after treatment:
- After the mask (applied in the clinic) the skin is red and feels burning and tight. This is normal, especially during the first 24-48 hours after starting treatment. To reduce this, use the included Melan Recovery cream.
- Flaking occurs on the 2nd / 3rd day in all skin types. It is advisable to use the Melan recovery cream and to repeat this every two hours.
- One week after the treatment, the skin starts to improve! In 95% of cases, the best result is achieved between the 2nd and 4th week. The pigmentation will be significantly reduced, or even disappeared.
